It's the third day of visiting the place they like to call his home and that's three damn days too many. He'd give up all the souls he's eaten to get to go back to what really is his home, the apartment with Maka an' Blair and the city with all of his friends, but thats just not happening.

He feels worse that Crona is stuck here, too, with all the snobby aristocrats, his creepy-ass grandmother, and just one good guy out of the whole lot. At least Wes is trying his best to keep Crona occupied away from the rest of 'em. But Wes also had connections and friends here, something that Soul never got.

Ringing sound of pathetic, eh?

But it's real early morning (enough to require jackets and blankets too), so Soul dragged Crona out of bed with only a little remorse, because that means he can see him alone. Just gotta get in that treehouse and they're all set, yeah?

Still stable after all those years!

"Sorry, love," because of course Soul wasn't gonna miss any of those signs. "Y'can go back to sleep soon, or at least get warm."

"Hupfh," he mutters the sound, and manages to both catch Crona and turn around in the same go. "On my back," he says. "Can get you as far as the tree, at least."

"Mm-hmm," Soul says. "Gonna help ya anyway."

Then he just plain picks Crona up, but hey, that means more warm Soul, right?

Some kinda knight, anyway. More sharp than shinin'.

But now he has some kinda problem. Treehouse, it is there! Blankets, they are there! There, they are not. If he coulda just gotten Crona to cling to his back somehow, it would have been easy-peasy to climb.

Soul almost laughs, but he counts himself among the geniuses that he manages not to. "Look at that," he says, when they make it on up. "Lotsa blankets." And four walls to block a bit of the cold!

Soul procures a few more fleece ones from a box, draping them over Crona's head before he crawls under the blankets and hugs the other teenager tightly. From the dark, he attacks - with love!

That's love, ain't it, when someone's willing to kiss you despite icky morning breath, eh?

He kisses Crona too, taking ahold of his hand to hold it tightly. "You been havin' some good dreams, babe? Didn't really wanna wake up back there."

But he was cute now that he did.

"Since I said it just now," Soul laughs, and touches the blush on Crona's cheek. He loves it when that happens, it's just ... adorable, man.

"I heard something about a knight, eh~"

Soul nips him on the throat with those teeth, but really lightly, only enough to tickle. "But you're the one that's damned good with a sword."

Excited is fun, but he keeps his teeth to himself for now. Sometimes you just want to cuddle and talk. Even if that should feel kinda girly...

"I th-thought that was Maka, too?"

What the fuck, he stuttered!

"Oh," Soul says. "'Kay."

...he's never really understood where the difference was that ended up making Maka=friend and Soul=lover, he's just been thankful for it.

"I love you, too." There's no pause from Soul either, no hesitation, which is a damn huge step in his ability to function with others.

Soul isn't ever really quiet unless he's told to shut up, so hey, it works it, eh?

"I woulda snapped a little here without you, so I'm really glad you came." Understatement: would have snapped a lot.

"Yeah, but Crona," he starts, stops, and then starts hesitationally again, "Crona, there's a chance they won't wanna let me go back."

Soul needed a little push against these shitheads, sometimes.

"Then this time," Soul says, kissing Crona softly, "You'll be my knight."

Soul moves closer to Crona, closeas he can. He's getting sleepy all of a sudden now: the factors were all there, but now that his worries are put to rest, he can consider sleeping for once.

"When we get home, I want..."

"Stop goin' back and forth," Soul mumbles. "Jus' stay at th' apartment, an' make it yer home."

Sometimes the best things Soul comes up with are out of nowhere, eh?

"Awesome," he says, and grins before, kissing Crona again before closing his eyes.
